Celebrating Student Achievement: B.U.G. Ice Cream Party at Telesis Preparatory Academy

On a sweet and sunny day in Lake Havasu City, 88 outstanding K–5 students at Telesis Preparatory Academy were honored for their hard work and dedication through the B.U.G. (Bringing Up Grades) program.
This special initiative, proudly supported by the Kiwanis Club of Lake Havasu City, recognizes students who demonstrate improvement in their academic performance—and rewards their efforts in a big way!

To celebrate their achievement, students were treated to an ice cream sundae party, complete with all the toppings and smiles you could imagine. But the celebration didn’t stop there—each student also received a colorful B.U.G. Bag, a fun pinwheel, and an official certificate of achievement to commemorate their accomplishment.

The event was made even more exciting by a special appearance from Stripe, the beloved Telesis mascot, who cheered on students and helped hand out awards with high-fives and hugs. The joy on the children’s faces was contagious and truly reflected the power of positive reinforcement in education.

The B.U.G. Program (Bringing Up Grades) is part of Kiwanis International’s broader mission to support children in their educational journeys and encourage lifelong learning through leadership and service. By focusing on improvement rather than perfection, B.U.G. helps students build self-confidence, goal-setting habits, and a deeper connection to their school and community.

This event is just one example of the amazing collaboration between Telesis Preparatory Academy  and the Kiwanis Club of Lake Havasu City, who together are working to make sure every child knows their hard work is seen, celebrated, and supported.

Community Collaboration: Kiwanis Key Club & London Bridge Model Boat Club

On September 28th, 2024 members of the London Bridge Model Boat Club (LBMBC) had the privilege of partnering with the dedicated students of the Kiwanis Key Club from Lake Havasu City High School and Telesis Preparatory Academy. Meeting in the heart of the channel, this collaboration highlighted the power of community involvement and teamwork.

As a testament to their commitment to fostering the next generation of leaders, the Key Club received a generous donation for their invaluable assistance with preparations for the 2025 National NAMBA Race. Their energy and dedication make a meaningful impact, and we are proud to support these incredible students as they grow and lead within our community.

Together, our Key Clubbers work hard to ensure our community events thrive. A huge thank you to the London Bridge Model Boat Club & members for their partnership and hard work!
